Solution Summary

This system provides MSI (Europe) with a secure, responsive, reliable, functional e-mail system that supports multiple character sets including Japanese which can be accessed both from the internal network or remotely using a secure web interface. The system also delivers a secure WAN/VPN environment across Europe to allow secure sharing of data, the deployment of Europe wide applications and the provision of a central repository for commonly shared data. The end package is transparent to the users saving both working time and money.

Business Issue

MSI (Europe) required a European wide communication strategy which would allow the various offices to communicate and share information securely.

John Harrington IT Manager of MSI (Europe) said, “The decision to move to a Blue Box solution was a commercial rather than a technical decision and was based on 3 key criteria: security, stability and cost. Cost was a major factor because we had to carefully consider the TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) argument in the context of a network of European Branch offices with limited IT skills.”

The Blue Box solution replaces Lotus Notes as the company's system for both internal and web based mail.

Key Benefits

  • Cost effective internal and web based mail system
  • Promotes sharing of information in a secure VPN environment
  • Central repository for data storage
  • Deployment of applications on a European wide basis
  • Low Total Cost of Ownership
  • Remote Support requires little internal IT skills
